A character home in a leafy tree-lined street close to some of South Australia’s finest schools was enough to lure vendors Gavin and Sue to their 111 Sixth Ave St Peters property more than three decades ago, and those same attractions have kept them there ever since.
With the addition of one more major highlight – the stunning renovation they have given their property.

“We’ve been here for 32 years,” Gavin says.
“It’s such a beautiful area. It was in one of the Avenues, it was just five minutes from the city, and it’s quiet, even moreso now that we’ve built up the gardens and put the palms in, and it’s just really private – it offers total seclusion.

“Everyone that comes here says it’s like they’re at a resort and it really feels like that. We’ve really worked hard improving this one, particularly outside, and that garden, with its five imported date palms, and the extensive polished concrete paths around the home, is just extraordinary.
“I’m a very fastidious person, so absolutely no expense was spared anywhere throughout the property.”
The 1910-built home has four bedrooms, a formal lounge and grand entry hall that leads to an open-plan kitchen, living and dining room that flows to a covered patio at the rear overlooking a swimming pool serviced by a separate pool house.

Contemporary conveniences include brand new automatic wrought iron driveway gates, an alarm system, an extensive polished concrete driveway and paths, irrigated gardens with lighting, and ducted airconditioning throughout.
“It was wonderful for our family and it flows so well,” Gavin says.
“We had two boys here, with one of them staying until he was 28, and it was just such a great home for them.
“They always had their friends over and were always in the pool, and for entertaining, it flows so well from the inside to the outside.
“We’ve had some big Christmases here and we’ll leave with some really special memories.”
Now downsizing to a nearby suburb, Gavin says it will be a wrench to say goodbye to a home they have loved for so long.

“The property is just too big for us now as our two boys have moved on, but every day I wonder if we’re making the right decision because this house really means so much to us all,” he says.
“We’ve had some fantastic times here and shared so much as a family and it will be sad to sad goodbye to it. But we know it’s the right decision and hope whoever buys it next loves it as much as we have and that it gives them as much joy as it’s given us.”
